The Referendum is Based on Community Input
The district worked with a number of community members to craft a plan that addresses needs and prepares our buildings for success into the future so we can continue to educate our students in functional and flexible spaces.
The School Board asked for citizen volunteers to become part of a Facility Planning Task Force. The 17-member group included students, city officials, business owners, retirees, and parents. The majority of the members did not have students in the district. They were asked to serve in an advisory capacity to the administration and School Board and provide a recommended solution. The Task Force's recommended projects were adopted by the Board and are directly reflected in the referendum.
Task Force Activities
The members met six times between October 2018 and January 2019 to review key information.
They scored and ranked project options.
The Result: The Task Force came to 100% consensus about the referendum plan.
Community members were encouraged to take a survey and 233 people responded. An overwhelming number of people agreed with the projects that the Task Force put forward in their recommendation.
